Rick Haughey is Vice President, Industry Technology Initiatives at the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), where he works with colleagues and industry partners to help create an environment within the multifamily industry that allows it to realize the financial and operational efficiencies provided by new technology and innovation. Specifically, he expands strategic business and industry information for issues of technology, telecommunications, marketing, property operations and innovation. Rick works closely with colleagues and members to produce the annual OPTECH conference and exhibition.

Prior to NMHC, Rick was Director of Multifamily Development at the Urban Land Institute(ULI) and also served as a Senior Fellow at the National Housing Conference. He began his career as an urban planner working at the town, county, and regional level. He also worked for a short while as a real estate market and feasibility analyst. Rick is the author of numerous books and publications on land use. He holds a Master of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning from the University of Maryland.
